Community Update:
Alan Lowe was employed with the club in October 2019 as Head of Community, After working with the club on a self employed basis. He has been working hard behind the scenes to develop more of a community awareness around the club. We now have a great community team which consists of 10 community coaches, who deliver classes to all ages. Since the start of 2019 when Alan first began working with the club, he has been increasing participation in all the current classes as well as starting new ones.
2020 has seen a further increase to the school programmes where his community team deliver sessions to 460 participants on a weekly basis. The links between the club and the schools is growing daily,
Alan is primarily focusing on 3 primary schools where he looks to develop stronger links between the club and the school. He will be engaging with the children within the school environment, to develop strong relationships and provide them with a better understanding of what East Fife has to offer them. The schools we are looking to work with are: Parkhill, Mountfleurie and Balcurvie. If this proves to be successful he will add further schools to create more positive links.
Gregor Rodger has been promoted to Football Development Officer as of 1st March 2020 from his current community coach role. He will now shadow and report to Alan, he will be a very vital part of the community team.
As a club we believe that the health and wellbeing of everyone involved in our community matter. We are therefore fully committed to provide a safe environment of learning, not just for our team players but also anyone who takes part in our community classes, any volunteers, parents and of course our coaches too. We want to help promote the importance of not only physical health but also mental health without the stigma and discrimination that people can face with it. Our community team will further this by creating a workshop around all aspects of health and wellbeing to educate our coaches. This will provide them with a clearer understanding of what some people in the area may be facing and give them an insight of how to spot signs and help deal with the issues faced.
