It is with regret that we have to announce that the 2007 Black team has folded. We have been advertising for players for several weeks but there has been little to no response. Also several players have moved to the 07’s which is in line with the club’s development policy.
In consultation with John & Eck, the Committee looked at all the options to try & keep the team going but over this weekend it became clear that it wasn’t going to be easy with only 10 players left in the squad.
Collectively we looked at the following options:
· Moving the team to a lower league & promoting younger players, we were told that as the fixtures had already been fixed that this was a non-starter
· Continue advertising & hope that this generates some interest
· Contact teams that we know have large squads to see if players would move
· Moving players from the 07’s to the 07 Blacks, a move which would go against our development policy
Having tried these options with no success we looked at plan B & have taken steps to implement immediately.
In consultation with the 2006 team, 5 players will move immediately. The choice of the players was taken after speaking to Gary & Andrew who know what type of players they are short of & the positions they want to fill.
We have also asked John & Eck if they would be willing to join the 06 coaching team, they have accepted the offer to work with Gary as head coach.
For the remainder of the team who haven’t as yet been placed the offer is to continue to train as per normal. The club will supply a community coach in line with the current Covid-19 guidelines.
If any player(s) don’t want to continue training then we will support any effort made in finding them a new club.
