Please see below message from CEFSSA. EFCFC fully support CEFSSA on this issue.
The Committee find it totally unacceptable to have to issue fines to teams on a regular basis due to parent/carers shocking behaviour towards officials, parents and more worryingly the children. We are, unfortunately, seeing an increase in incidents whether its verbal abuse, intimidation and even assault.
We are all involved in kids football for one reason and that is to create a safe and happy environment where they can express themselves playing the game they love. We don't believe this should be hard to achieve but we still have people at these games that think it is acceptable to behave in this manner.
As a consequence of this we are taking a zero tolerance approach.
Officials must respect each other and behave in a responsible and supportive manner. Officials are in charge of all aspects of training and coaching on game days, whether this is facilities, pitch inspections, crowd barriers or dealing with parents or supporters. Officials are well within their rights to ask their fellow coach to speak to anyone from their side that is causing an issue and depending on the severity they could abandon the game, for example if the official is not addressing parent/supporter issues.
We have to ask these people to be quiet or leave the side of the pitch. We are all responsible for what children see and hear and we must set the standards. We need to show respect and be positive to both teams, the last thing we want is a child to be upset due to unnecessary shouts from the side of the pitch.
CEFSSA is run by volunteers for volunteers who give up their time to coach hundreds of kids every week. We are not interested in holding disciplinary meetings every month to deal with repetitive issues so we must find solutions. Please take on board what we have to say as we are only highlighting where we can improve for everyone who’s involved sakes.
Thanks to everyone for your support moving forward and please share this statement within your clubs.
